Supply Chain Specialist - Buyer for Oil and Gas in Bakersfield, CA
Will consider out of state candidates and H1B candidates if located in the US.
Position Key Deliverables:
• Handle all phases of the supply chain process, communicating effectively with business partners, suppliers, contractors and other personnel, throughout the activity cycle
• Manage bid process: determine appropriate recipients using selection procedures; evaluate proposals with the business partner to identify the best business solution; prepare bid documentation and present recommendations
• Capital/Expense cost savings through effective buying practices and cost management
• Continuous improvement of Suppliers through the utilization of lean principles
• Sound Contract Agreements -- Create Well Defined Agreements that provide client with a competitive advantage.
• Value Improvements in:
• Managing Supplier Relationships (Process And Commodity)
• Negotiating Contract Pricing; Cost Savings Ideas
• Reconditioning and reusing existing Idle or Surplus Assets
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Provide responsive & effective contracting support to customers
• Research and develop recommendations for improving supply chain category strategies; advise category champions
• Work closely with suppliers to implement and sustain waste reducing projects to improve productivity and safety
• Create and manage sound contracts with suppliers
• Prevent/resolve contract non-compliance and non-conformance problems
• Proactively identify supply chain improvement opportunities to help achieve business goals
• Collaborate with Procurement Team members to standardize and continuously improve procurement-related business processes
• Comply with Procurement guidelines and standard procedures
• Perform assigned Business Control Plan Tests
Critical Skills and Knowledge:
• Good to Excellent knowledge of MS Office, SAP, Business Objects
• Able to read, write and negotiate contracts and develop supply chain category strategies
• Able to analyze procurement data in SAP and Business Objects to identify improvement opportunities
• Able to cause map problems and develop effective corrective actions
• Knowledge of strategic supply chain management and total cost leadership principles
• Able to apply Lean thinking principles to identify and reduce waste
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize issues, manage diversity and develop creative solutions to achieve results.
• Good business communication , conflict resolution and facilitation skills
• Strong Negotiating and Analytical Skills
• Financial Analysis Skills
Experience/Education Requirements:
• Bachelors Degree in Business/Supply Chain Management/Industrial Engineering
or related field required, Master of Business Administration Desirable
• 5-10 Years of Purchasing/Supply Chain Management experience in the
Upstream Oil and Gas Industry
