We are currently recruiting for a Geologist - Stimulation Services to join the Baker Hughes team in Calgary, Alberta. The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: Successful candidates will be expected to work as a team member or independently to meet the demands of a customer focused support group in a lab environment. Strong analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills are required. The successful candidate will be responsible for three main areas: Operation of the scanning electron microscope (SEM). Includes analyzing submitted core or drill cuttings to characterize the matrix/mineralogy and as a tool to help identify possible adverse rock/fluid interactions caused by possible stimulation treatments. The SEM will also be used to identify scale samples and corrosion by products. Maintain and operate the core flow equipment. Includes evaluation of possible damaging mechanisms caused by various stimulation rock/fluids interactions in both gas and oil wells. Evaluation of new surfactants and other stimulation additives with respect to rock/fluids interactions. Reviewing and improving test procedures. As a liaison between the CTC and our geologists in the reservoir group. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting results and writing reports. Presentations to internal and external customers is required. This position offers intense immersion and training in equipment and procedures and may from time to time, require testing after hours or on weekends. Eventually the position will require a commitment to 24 hour on call responsibilities, on a rotational basis, in the stimulation service line. Successful applicants will possess the following: Education and Experience This position requires graduation in good standing from a recognized Technical School or University. A Geological Engineer or Geologist is preferred Oil and gas well drilling and completions experience will be considered an asset. Training in the acidizing and fracturing lines will also be required.
