Job Description:
|
For the first year of the assignment, the engineer will work in Perth, Western Australia on Mission's exciting new R&D project to develop the next generation of pumps and motors. The candidate will play a vital role in developing the technology by working closely with the inventor and NOV engineers already on the job.
After approximately the first year, it is expected that the engineer will move back to the US and continue working on design, testing, and commercialization of subsequent designs. The exact location in the US is flexible.
Responsibilities:
• Study with the technology / product inventor to learn basic design principles and practical applications.
• Design pumps and motors for wide variety of applications using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Manage new designs via Mission's New Product Development process: from conception, to lab testing and field prototype, through commercialization.
• Generate test procedures and all necessary support documentation for product verification and validation.
• Perform product tests and experiments that require standard as well as nonstandard procedures and complex instrumentation.
• Write papers and magazine articles for publication.
• Upon return to the US, work with engineering team to train others and expand the field of knowledge.
• Some domestic and international travel is required (~10%).
• Perform other duties as required by management.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering as a minimum
• 2-5 years of design engineering experience is preferred
o ''Clean sheet'' designing a big plus
o Oilfield pump engineering experience a big plus
• Excellent technical communication skills
• Proficient designing with engineering software:
o CAD: Solidworks and AutoCAD
o FEA: COSMOS, ANSYS (linear and non-linear analysis)
• Basic knowledge of Engineering Standards and Procedures
• Knowledge of and experience working in and around manufacturing plants and machine shops
• Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and some electrical components and electronics a big plus
• Strong leadership abilities
• Strong project management abilities
• Self-directed and highly motivated
• Can work equally well in individual and design team settings
