JOB SUMMARY:
Provides strategic leadership, administration, and coordination of all activities involving the procurement process of specific materials and services (commodities) in order to maximize bottom line profits and achieve competitive advantage through the application of best practices in supply chain management.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide procurement services to Marketing, Sales, Engineering, and Operations to ensure that TSI obtains the many advantages resulting from world-class purchasing.
• Placement of purchase orders for assigned commodities, capital goods, drop shipment and international shipments.
• Perform price/cost/value analysis as applicable.
• Aggressively pursue and establish corporate purchasing contracts, pricing agreements, and blanket purchase orders with key suppliers to achieve lowest overall cost.
• Develop and maintain strategic, high-level supplier relations that result in TSI attaining preferred customer status and terms.
• Assists in development and implementation of cost reduction programs that result in continuously lower total cost of ownership, reduced inventories and reduced cycle time.
• Aggressively pursue development of positive relationship with strategic players and suppliers and internal customers.
• Resolve issues related to: purchases orders contracts, payment terms, check requests, credit card purchases, vendor returns.
• Proactive in maintaining integrity of information databases.
• Lead negotiations of strategic corporate and cross functional teams, tasks with corporate procurement cost reduction.
• Required to do cost reductions, vendor selection, negotiate terms and availability of product.
• Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements
Education:
Required: Four year college degree BS or BA. Current C.P.M. certification by ISM.
Desired: Current Membership in NAPM.
Experience:
• 3-5 years experience
• Working knowledge of assigned commodity group(s).
• Knowledge and experience in Purchasing Best Practices, purchasing contracts, and Purchasing Policy and Procedures.
• Strong negotiating and analytical skills.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Utilization of PC and/or AS400 based applications such as Microsoft Excel for research & spreadsheet analysis.
• Demonstrated skills in leadership, negotiations, assertiveness, strategic, and bottom-line thinking.
• Ability to develop and maintain strong rapport and credibility with Senior Level Management in both TSI's and supplier's
organizations.
• Ability to perform multiple concurrent tasks.
• Proactive, team player, high integrity and ethics.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Knowledge of inventory control procedure and practices.
COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:
Salary is commensurate with experience.
