Job Description:
Pacific Drilling has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Superintendent (Global).

The Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for supporting the development of the Pacific Drilling Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).  This position will review and implement new preventative and predictive maintenance technologies to further enhance and support the Pacific Drilling CMMS.  Responsible for ensuring the correct resources are available to support mechanical maintenance, operational events and projects.  Responsible for helping Pacific Drilling to  achieve optimum performance in all offshore operations focusing on safety, efficient productivity and client satisfaction.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Supports in the development and delivery of a Computerized based Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Monitors the application of the Pacific Drilling Computerized Preventative Maintenance System. Ensures equipment and systems are operational and industry technology advancement is transmitted to Management.
  • Manages the planning and efficient execution of all Maintenance Operations in coordination with Pacific Drilling Rig Management & Client Representatives requirements.
  • Responsible for all Mechanical Maintenance Operational issues support providing the necessary resources that enable Pacific Drilling to achieve optimum performance in all offshore operations focusing on safety, efficient productivity and client satisfaction.
  • Participates in the training of the offshore personnel with the use of the CMMS and the various Maintenance Procedures.
  • Monitors Pacific Drilling Maintenance Performance for Drilling & DP Operations, giving guidance to Pacific Drilling Offshore Management so that Pacific Drilling Operations meets the highest industry standards of safety & performance.
  • Ensures Pacific Drilling maintenance and operational project issues and equipment failures are fully analyzed, tracked and monitored to close out any outstanding items.
  • Ensures that outcomes of issues/failures reports are taken into account to optimize operational safety and performance.
  • Monitors all onboard Mechanical Equipment and Safety Systems, reviews testing programs and inspections of critical equipment and systems to ensure operational parameters and safety limits are observed.
  • Audits all 3rd Party inspection companies ensuring they comply with Class and Regulatory requirements of local legislation. Provides robust Scopes Of Work (SOW) for the execution of all inspections and reviews all reports and support the follow up on any discrepancy in a timely manner.  
  • Ensures Pacific Drilling equipment is maintained to the highest industry standards in keeping with class requirements and complies with Flag State and certifying Regulatory Bodies requirements.
  • Promotes and maintains a good working relationship with Pacific Drilling Client Representative, Department Heads, and Third Party Personnel.
  • Maintains direct lines of communication with the Rig Manager / OIM /Maintenance Supervisor on all relevant activities regarding the rig's operation and needs.
  • Provides assistance to rigs in areas related to maintenance and budget management. Reviews and provides manning and organizational structures to support Class and Pacific Drilling policies and procedures.
  • Develops job descriptions for all mechanical craft positions
  • Participates in the evaluation of the Maintenance System and the CMMS.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or Advanced level education equivalent through relevant technical qualifications.
  • Extensive Offshore and Onshore technical experience at supervisory level.
  • Demonstrated ability of oral and written communications at Management Level
  • 10-years relevant offshore drilling industry experience.
  • Knowledge of all types of marine and drilling equipment and preventative and predictive maintenance systems.
  • Knowledge of Dynamic positioning (DP), Automated Marine Engine Room systems, Power Management Systems (PMS) and Vessel Management Systems (VMS) An in-depth knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics control systems.
  • Knowledge of complex Drilling Control system including offline pipe handling.
  • Extensive knowledge of all technical design & operational parameters for Ultra Deep Water Drill Ship required for the safe operation of Pacific Drilling drill ships.
  • Mechanical Design Standards including API (API 2C, 2D, 6A,), ASME B31, IMO MODU, SOLAS and Class regulations (ABS, DNV, BV,…)
  • Valid Passport and Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC Card).
