LOCATION:
Houston, Texas
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
This individual will be responsible for identifying, prioritizing, presenting, and monitoring oil and gas development and exploitation projects, as well as identifying and quantifying oil and gas targets of reserves. This position also researches field and well histories, constructs plans of depletion, identifies reservoir mechanics and predicts potential for additional recovery.
As a member of an asset team, this individual will:
- Conduct reservoir studies that encompass analyzing logs, drafting structure and net pay maps, managing databases, and analyzing production data in order to quantify the volumes of oil and gas for reserves estimation and to evaluate the economics of workovers and the associated reserves.
- Monitor waterflood and polymer flood performance and recommend changes to injection-withdrawal schedules to enhance performance.
- Research, design and justify new waterfloods and assists in implementation.
- Research well files, extract pertinent engineering data, draw wellbore schematics from workover reports, and write workover procedures.
- Build and run simple reservoir models to assist in long term reservoir management.
- Take a lead role in identifying and justifying reserve additions and present and defend reserve base to independent reserve auditor in accordance with corporate and industry guidelines.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- The successful candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering from an accredited four-year university or college with a minimum of ten years experience in a similar position.
- Master's Degree in petroleum engineering preferred.
- Gulf of Mexico Shelf experience is a must.
Additional qualifications:
- Ability to conduct detailed reservoir evaluations and studies and integrate geological and geophysical data into reservoir engineering calculations.
- Must be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).
- Ability to integrate data from different sources into model reservoirs. Excellent administrative and organizational skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook), Nodal analysis, and public data retrieval required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Access, Aries economic software and/or other reservoir engineering software tools, well log evaluations, risk assessment, PETRA, Rate Transient Analysis (RTA), Power Tools, and CAD preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex information into an organized and presentable manner.
