Instrument Maintenance Engineer
I am currently recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer with an instrument back ground to work for one of the worlds leading operators in Aberdeen. This role is a full time contract position working in Altens and you will be handling both onshore and offshore assets.
The North Sea offshore area consists of mature assets with a complex integration of a number of producing fields. Key issues relate to the fact that the asset is at mid-life point and may have a further 20 years operating life resulting in an emphasis on ensuring the integrity of the assets. The HPHT nature of the assets produces a technically challenging environment with complex issues to be addressed. The assets, include a terminal and field that fulfils a strategic role in the this companys overall infrastructure with the emphasis on ensuring the overall safety and operational performance of the site. The focus across all the assets is to deliver the best and most balanced performance in terms of safety, production and cost maximisation.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Ensure highest safety standards and continuity and optimisation of hydrocarbon production
Provide all aspects of engineering/technical support and assistance to site-based/offshore/project teams
Develop and maintain productive and constructive relationships with site-based/offshore personnel, onshore operations/technical/project teams and external contractors/vendors
In Depth Activities:
Provide specialist technical/engineering advice and guidance to project personnel on the operation and maintenance of plant/equipment ensuring highest safety standards, a timely response to queries and minimal disruption to project progress
Ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe and effective manner and that all interventions are controlled by authorised persons, satisfy statutory and Company standards and that no hazardous incidents or events occur
Develop of strategies for the maintenance, inspection and operation of plant/equipment to ensure that all plant and equipment meets verification and compliance requirements
Develop relevant operations and maintenance procedures, documentation and spare parts are maintained in an accurate and current status and are available on request for the maintenance engineering dossiers
Develop and review the preparation of Maintenance Dossiers (eg preparation of asset register, handling philosophies, spare part requirements, criticality study in line with company maintenance methodology)
Review and advise, quality control and approve the preparation of the asset registers prior to upload to Company computerised maintenance Inspection management system (SAP), the maintenance plans for new platform equipments ensuring compliance with maintenance and inspection philosophy and existing platform maintenance and inspection tasks, list of operational spare parts and all other requirements of the maintenance engineering dossiers
After first review and when up to a good standard, liaise with metier disciplines to get comments / approval for the main content of the maintenance engineering dossier
Liaise with commissioning team on requirements for Commissioning and start up spare parts
Liaise with materials /Procurement team on Spare part ordering and monitor progress of NMR process.
Check that the verification work which is required after start up is integrated within the verification activities for the existing platforms.
Check and advise equipment flagged as SCE by MIEC is reviewed by SCE teams prior to upload to SAP.
Check and advise STREAM case queries relating to maintenance by MIEC are actioned appropriately.
Prepare and present for approval maintenance optimisation dossiers (PM reviews).
Conduct ad-hoc technical surveys on site/offshore and at EPC locations, providing detailed technical reports identifying problems and solutions and ensuring optimum set-up of maintenance engineering for day to day activities
Develop positive and constructive relationships with contractors and suppliers. Identify opportunities to improve contractor/supplier performance, reduce costs and improve the quality of services/products supplied in liaison with project and purchasing
Develop and maintain good working relationships with site personnel through effective communication and by making regular visits to all sites.
Provide the site feedback during analyses/studies of problems by participating in multi-discipline teams/projects in conjunction with other operations personnel or Technology Department
Prepare scopes of work and manage simple mono-disciplines modifications ensuring they are correctly engineered, documented and reported, and that all maintenance activities/modifications are implemented in accordance with statutory/Company standards and correctly closed-out within schedule and budget
Participate in/contribute to safety studies/HAZOPS, etc.
Issue or review the required PMCR to optimize the preventive maintenance activity. Review and analyse plant and equipment performance and provide feedback to Line Management, identifying opportunities to maximise production and performance and share best practice
To be considered for the role you must be or able to demonstrate:
Suitable engineering qualification (Engineering Degree preferred) with appropriate engineering experience in the oil and gas industry, including offshore/site experience
Detailed knowledge of legislation/regulations relevant to discipline
Significant knowledge of offshore/terminal plant and equipment and maintenance systems
Recognised level of Company expertise in specific technical discipline
Valid offshore certification
