BiFab Grabs Additional Cygnus Work

Burntisland Fabrication (BiFab) was awarded another contract by GDF SUEZ regarding the construction of facilities for the Cygnus development in the UK North Sea. Based on the contract, BiFab's responsibilities include design, procurement, pre-commissioning assistance along with weighing and load-out of the module. Previously, BiFab accepted a contract to build jackets for the four platforms that will be installed at the field. Cygnus is regarded as the largest discovery in the Southern North Sea in the past 25 years. Facilities at the field are scheduled to be operational by late 2015. More Offshore Projects

Mubadala Extends Program with Songa Venus

Mubadala Petroleum extended its contract for the Songa Venus (mid-water semisub) by an additional two wells. The contract extension has a dayrate in the mid-$230s and will see the rig working through the end of 2013. Also included is an option for an additional two wells. Mubadala plans to use the rig for its drilling program in Malaysia and Vietnam.
Vantage Confirms Short Term Work for Tungsten Explorer

Vantage Drilling confirmed that the Tungsten Explorer (UDW drillship) has received a letter of award for work which is expected to start upon delivery from the shipyard. Industry sources have reported that the contract is with PTTEP Myanmar for one well in Block 11. A total contract value of $68.2 million was reported for the PTTEP well. However, channel checks have suggested that the clean rate for the contract is in the low-$580s. Vantage says they are also working on securing another contract to fill in the gap between the PTTEP well and the start of the Total contract at Moho Nord in mid-2014.
